Surf’s Up!

Inspired by the amazing images of surfing dogs at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort Surf Dog Competition in San Diego, Wheatie decided that he, too, might add surfing to his fitness routine.Mastering "surfing" on non-wave waters It took a few days for him to be able to comfortably stand on a stationary raft in the pool, and now he can easily balance a floating raft with a bit of wave added to the pool.

Why might a dog surf? Well, it’s cool, fun, and a great way to bond with his human. It’s also a great way to get his human into the water moving about and, before you know it, getting Fit As Fido!

While Wheatie’s still a novice, watch the amazing video below to see a real surfer dog. Before clicking on the video, make sure you have a box of tissues handy. The surfing Ricochet uses her amazing skills for fun, sport, and the betterment of mankind. Hey — she’s a dog — you gotta expect she’ll have the whole physical, emotional, and social Fit As Fido package going on!
