Endal Junior Goes to Crufts

Any of you who know Endal Junior know he gets around, following in the proud footsteps of Endal before him. And wherever Endal Junior goes, his charge Allen is right beside him. This year, EJ and Allen took their message of the importance of service dogs for wounded service men and women to Crufts.

Allen sent me this priceless picture from the event. The Defence Animal Centre staff and their dogs provided a uniformed presence to help show why there is a need for a charity like Hounds for Heroes. The irony of the situation is that any of these young men and women could be injured and disabled on duty and could eventually require a Hounds for Heroes dog. Allen was equally proud to have Katie Jones join them. Katie’s a very inspiring police women who was shot on duty only two years ago and is now back on the front line and a proactive ambassadors for the charity. Katie had brought her explosives detection dog to the event, a wonderful chocolate Labrador called Chess.

As you might expect, EJ was an old pro at Crufts, working hard to meet thousands of people and dogs, his otter-like tail never once stopped wagging throughout the four-day event. EJ is one of Hounds for Heroes’ best friend-raisers AND fund-raisers! And I know Endal’s looking down on the service dog he helped train, nodding his wise head, and saying, “Well done, Junior. Well done!”
