Hounds For Heroes

You’ve read a lot about Royal Navy Veteran Allen Parton and the service dog Endal who changed his life. Endal Junior, trained by the famous Endal, has been serving Allen for the last couple of years. As you’ll recall, FitAsFido was granted the first transatlantic interview with this incredible pup! This hardworking pair also heads an amazing charity working to get service dogs for other injured Veterans — Hounds For Heroes

After much hardwork and fundraising, 5 Labrador puppies have begun their 2-years of intensive training to become Hounds for Heroes service dogs (called assistance dogs in the UK) for wounded ex-servicemen, like Allen.

Kudos to the first Hounds for Heroes training class

You can support the work of these awesome puppies as you celebrate your holiday. Hounds for Heroes is selling striking holiday cards featuring the great and the small. These adorable doggie cards are about a dollar a card, with $3 being donated to Hounds for Heroes from every pack of 10 cards sold.

Happy Christmas. Looking forward to Christmas in 2013 when five delighted Veterans will get the gift of a lifetime — a trained service dog to give companionship and independence to those who served and sacrificed.
