A Dog And His Girl Mystery Series Review
I’ve always been a mystery lover. When we girls were in junior high, we shared copies of the Trixie Belden series, following Trixie and her friends as they followed clues and solved mysteries. (I still have a whole set in my bedroom!) And, of course, who doesn’t love Nancy Drew.
This month, Jane Mason and Sarah Hines-Stephens introduce us to a new detecting duo — seventh grader Cassie and retired K-9 police dog Dodge. The first book in this series is A Dog and His Girl Mystery: Play Dead. Cassie and Dodge uncover nefarious activity of the greedy, rich, and newly dead Verdel Ward. He’s the richest and meanest man in town — so his funeral was well attended, but no one cried. And now everyone’s fighting over his money. Something just doesn’t smell right to Cassie and Dodge who go undercover and on the case, sniffing out clues and putting two-and-two together. Both Cassie and Dodge get a bit of help from their friends — including a senior Basset Hound known as “The Nose.” This book is especially unique because there are two narrators who alternate chapters — Cassie and Dodge — so you get the scoop from both the human and canine perspectives. A fun mystery that will keep you turning pages until the case is solved. And then you’ll ask, “When’s book #2 going to be ready?!”

This sounds like a very interesting book! It’s very unique to alternate Dodge’s Point of View with owner, Cassie’s. The perspectives should be entertaining! We will have to check it out ourselves to find out how the case is solved!
